Victorian Semi Redecoration — Oldfield Park
Whole-home repaint for a Victorian semi on the south side of Bath — neutralising dark colours prior to sale.
Project Details
A Victorian semi-detached house on Moorland Road in Oldfield Park was being prepared for sale. The previous owners had painted several rooms in deep, fashionable colours — navy and forest green — that would narrow the buyer pool.
Neutralising these strong pigments required Zinsser BIN stain-blocking primer before we could apply Dulux Trade Supermatt in "Natural Hessian" — a warm, universally appealing neutral that complements the property's original fireplaces and ornate cornicing. Ceilings were repainted in brilliant white, and all woodwork was refreshed with Dulux Trade Satinwood.
The real challenge was the plaster. Uneven Victorian walls were lined with 1000-grade lining paper before painting to give a flawless, modern finish. We also worked around the clients' newborn, using low-VOC Dulux Trade airless formulations and keeping noise to a minimum during nap times. The property received three offers above asking within a fortnight of listing.
"We needed the house sale-ready in under two weeks. They worked around our newborn's schedule, used low-odour paint, and the finish helped us get three offers above asking."Tom and Lucy Brennan — Homeowners, Oldfield Park
